La “Plage Verte”,  is, as its name suggests, a verdant space in front of the Chantereyne Marina. Created at the beginning of the 90s as an extension to the port, it has replaced the former artificial beach created in the Napoleonic era. Today there are frequent displays and activities here.

Inside the natural harbour of Cherbourg, the beach of la Saline covers about 600 metres of coastline to the north of the city, between the rocky bank on the west and the Arsenal on the east. Swimming is forbidden. However, there is a café  built into the former military fortification. There is also a playground for children. The walk from the east to the west of the city follows 3 km along the seaside and is easily accessible for cyclists, pedestrians and disabled people.

The beach at Querqueville is always popular. There is a car park, a first-aid post, snack bar restaurants in the summer, games for children and a boules pitch.
